Default Cannot create admin connection to Server in ArcCatalog

    Hello,

I'm having a problem with one of my Servers. I cannot create an admin connection to it in ArcCatalog. I'm in the agsadmin group on the server and am also a local admin on that server. The SOM was restarted today (issue has been going on for a while though) and I can log in to Manager.

Any ideas of what else I should check? I had another person who is also in the agsadmin group try and it didn't work for them either.

    Thanks,

    TG

Looks like this is a common problem for me!

Having the same issue again - brand new server w/ Win 2008R2 and IIS 7 this time. Running ArcGIS Server 10 SP2, and nothing else is on the machine at this time.

I cannot create a connection to the server in ArcCatalog to manage services, I get the error in the attached image. My domain account is in the agsadmin group and the SOM is running - I can preview services through the REST endpoint & add them to my silverlight app.

I checked and DCOM is enabled on the server. What else could I be missing?

    Thanks,

    TG

Finally got this to work - turns out there are policies on our Win 2008 servers which limit my regular domain account (even though it's in the local Administrators group on the server). This was not the case on any of our Win 2003 servers. If I run ArcCatalog with a different account with higher privledges I can create the admin connection just fine.
