Default Exporting into svg - how to create labels as text/words?

    Hi:

I'm currently working on a map where a point shapefile (of cities) is labelled. I'm exporting the map to SVG, and need the labels to be editable as working text in Illustrator (as in a text box, essentially).

I've exported them as annotations, and also without converting them to annotations. Neither gets me to editable text in Illustrator.

Any advice as to how I can make this happen?

    Thanks,

    Steven

I wonder if exporting to a PDF (with fonts embedded) and opening that in AI would be a workaround?

It may also be worthwhile to consider whether or not you need to turn dicing on or off, or simply increase the inherent threshold.

Increase dicing threshold via the Windows Registry (not recommended)

    Toggle dicing with vb (recommended)

Arcmap can also export directly to AI format, see what that gets you, or is SVG a requirement of some sort?
