Default ArcGIS 10 License Manager with ArcGIS 9.3.1 Desktop

My organization wants to upgrade our current license manager so that we can run it on Linux without a dongle. However, we cannot at this time upgrade ArcGIS Desktop from 9.3.1 to 10. Will the ArcGIS 10 LM service the 9.3.1 installs? And if so, do I need to download the entire ArcGIS 10 Desktop install just to get the v10 LM?

    Thanks for your help.

    @193820,

The ArcGIS 10 License Manager will support your ArcGIS 9.x Desktop clients and any new ArcGIS 10 Desktop clients you deploy.

First you will need to work with ESRI Customer service or your regional vendor to arrange access to the ESRI licensing portal--or issuance of your new Authorization numbers. Your old ArcGIS 9.x License Files will not work to activate the new LM.

The best way to obtain the FlexNet Publisher License Manager and ESRI's authorization tools are to download the ArcGIS Desktop 10.0 DVD installation media .ISO image ( ArcGIS_Desktop10_122519.iso -- 3.94Gb). Then either burn the ISO image to DVD or mount the ISO image and copy out the license manager folders you need for the install.

    <DVDDriveLetter>\LicenseManager\Windows
    <DVDDriveLetter>\LicenseManager\Solaris
    <DVDDriveLetter>\LicenseManager\Linux

Use the appropriate installers that are there.

You should immediately install the Service Pack 1 License Manager Patch
    http://resources.arcgis.com/content/...60&MetaID=1741
    gis10sp1-LM-Patch.msp
    gis10sp1-lm-patch-linux.tar
    gis10sp1-lm-patch-slrs.tar
and then the Service Pack 2 License Manager
    http://resources.arcgis.com/content/...17&MetaID=1752
Installing for the the appropriate OS:
    ArcGISLicenseManager10sp2.msp
    gis10-sp2-lm-linux.tar
    gis10-sp2-lm-slrs.tar
Post back if you have any specific questions.

We can install License manager of ArcGIS desktop version 10 and authorize it. Having Arcgis Desktop 9.3.1 installed on the same machine using the desktop administrator assign the license manger path. Even though the available license will not be displayed this is good enough to run the software (i.e. ArcGIS desktop 9.3.1). If extensions are also licensed they can also be accessed through >Tools > Extensions once the software is opened.

    Charles,

There is a patch to the 10.0 license manager http://support.esri.com/en/downloads...60/metaid/1741 that fixed the display of 9.x resources.

But, I would suggest you go ahead and install the 10.1 License manager provided with 10.1 SP1 here: http://support.esri.com/en/downloads...89/metaid/1913 there are a number of enhancements and corrections to the LM panels and implementation of Flexera FlexNet Publisher components.
