New forum colours...

I like the new forum improvements but I am having a very hard time scanning the text. The reds and browns and greens seem to be clashing. Those Q's and D's for the thread type seem to be the worst offenders next to the muted green text.

Is it just me? Or am I being a colour snob?

To us, the contrast and clarity look fine. But absolutely, if we can at least a few others saying the same thing we'll take a look at using different colors. The idea is to use a darker yellow for "D" (Discussion) and to use a red and a green for "Q" and "A" respectively for threads tagged by the author as Q&A.

I'm color-blind, and those colors hurt. Not as badly as my daughter choosing the polka-dot shirt with
flower-pattern skirt and long diagonal striped socks, but close.

I'm also not fond of the narrow font in the icons.

I hope you're already working the "when you try to reply and login, you're put at the root menu" issue --
that which has been fixed after each rollout has become unfixed again.

The new editor widgits seem cool, but they sure do use a lot of real estate.

I also find the red, yellow and green icons to be way too strong. The traffic-light colour scheme itself is ok, but please tone them down!

But wow: the "when you try to reply and login, you're put at the root menu" issue has been solved. Hopefully this is for good and not just until some other changes (I shy away from using the word "improvements" here) are done to the forums.

edit: keep the dark yellow, that's fine (or maybe take out a bit of its saturation), but shift the green more towards the text colour. That would make the icon step back visually, which I think is ok for a solved thread, sort of saying: "this issue is no longer as urgent as the others". and take some of the saturation out of the red, shifting it closer to the pinkish hue of the envelope icons. This would tie the page together, I think, instead of making those green, yellow and red icons pop out of the page, acting as if they were the single most important feature here.

I played with those colours on a colour wheel and they are not even in the same family as the rest of the website but I decided not to share

I do not think that the colors are bad here and besides this I like green.
When I read your post ^^ I had to smile because I like the comparison with your daughters polka dot shirt and the flower pattern skirt. Maybe I like the color here because it reminds me of flowers and I generally love flowers. A few days ago I found a flower voucher code and order some flowers which is great because nothing is better than the scent of fresh flowers.

Whatever happened with this suggestion? I love the idea of changing the current symbol colors with the mocked up colors. They're just too strong.

We muted them a bit a little while back, making them a little darker but not as subdued as Robert suggested. Still too strong yeah?
