Default Error while trying to connect with ArcCatalog

    Guys
i have ArcGis Server installed on a box running windows 2008 R2, box IP is 192.168.1.182, Box name is ArcServer
Server Manager is working on that box and i can login.
box is accessible through the network by both name and IP.

I have ArcDesktop 10 Eval running on a box running windows 7.

While trying to add ArcGisServer to the ArcCatalog i am getting an error msg:

"Error Access Denied: The SOM Machine ArcServer is unreachable"

I am logged in as the admin, which was added to the arcgis server user groups

what am i doing wrong ?

FW is enabled, however since i am running on port 8082 i enabled that port.
    both locally and externally
Furthermore i can access the manager log-in using both my internal (192.168.1.182:8082/ArcGis/Manager/Login.aspx) and external IP.
My question is where is the folder arcgis/services located ?

    Hello

Im having the same problem - worked fine on Windows XP (once I had opened the ports) but I now have a new Windows 7 computer and cannot connect as administrator.

    Did you solve this?

    Thank you

i had similar issues connecting winXP dekstop to win server2008 server.

Turned out that the 2 different local windows user's was the problem.

workstation\administrator <---winXP box running arcgis desktop
arcgis10server\administrator <---server2008 box running arcgis server

As soon as I ran arcCatalog on winXP box using the same exact domain\user, (which was also in the agsadmin group on server) I could connect just fine.

I got tired of all this and just installed active directory on teh server box, so it's now a domain controller. After joining my workstation pc to the domain, problems solved.
