ESRI -add a new point on map

I am developing my first ESRi application using silverlight API.For that i am using the sample application WebMapDynamicServicePopups.xaml.It is running on my local host in VS2010. I added a command button named test (silverlight) on LightPage.xaml . Now i need some help for the following coding.

1.When i click test button ,all the existing features should delete from the map and one icon with green colour need to ad on map with long and lat values of (53,23)


2.How can i use our own map insted of ESRI default map.If all map details is in SQL,then how i will write code for accessing SQLGeodata?

Did you say you are using this SDK sample? http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapi/sil...cServicePopups. This SDK sample use an existing map from ArcGISOnline to build a client-side map.

Clearing/adding graphics to map:

If you are working with ArcGISDynamicMapServiceLayer, you can set VisibleLayers to empty int[] to hide the features: http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapi/sil...m#SubLayerList. If you are working with GraphicsLayer/FeatureLayer, you can call layer.Graphics.Clear() or layer.ClearGraphics() to remove features from graphic collection. http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapi/sil...000000s000000/, http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapi/sil...m#DrawGraphics.

Creating map:
This concept page might help on how you can create your map: http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapi/sil...0000011000000/. If you have your data published as service in ArcGIS server, you can consume this by setting Url property of the layer. If you will be working with SQL directly, you can use WCF service to send/receive geometry: http://blogs.esri.com/esri/arcgis/20...ver-using-wcf/.
