Default Trouble Checking gps correct Data back into ArcMap

I can not check in two feature classed I collected the other day in the field. 1 was a point feature and the other was a line feature. I am using Arc Map 10 in the office with GPS analyst, and am using a Geo XT 3000, with Arc pad and GPS correct.

    This was my work flow:

    1. Created personal database and GPS enabled it
    2. Created the feature classes and GPS enabled them
    3. Added everything to a new arcmap file and used the GPS get Data for Arcpad tool to import everything into arcpad.
    4. Collected my Data
    5. Tried to use the Analyst Check in tool many times and I keep receiveing the following error message:

    Executing: CheckinAXFFileAndGPScorrectSSF "C:\Documents and Settings\****\My Documents\Geo5150485477 My Documents\PartII2.26\WHBase2012_mdb.axf" # Wavel_Roads;roadpoints
    Start Time: Fri Apr 27 15:19:03 2012
Importing GNSS positions from SSF file: C:\Documents and Settings\*****\My Documents\Geo5150485477 My Documents\PartII2.26\GPScorrect.ssf
    Imported 0 GNSS positions.
An error occurred while importing the file: 8116006a
Failed to check in from AXF file
    Failed to execute (CheckinAXFFileAndGPScorrectSSF).
    Failed at Fri Apr 27 15:19:11 2012

Is there anything obvious that I could be doing wrong?

    Barry,

I haven't seen this particular error before and not much is found from Internet search. A key requirements for successfull completion of GPScorrect and GPS Analyst tools is that all applicable software applications are compatible with the Trimble hardware. Your post states you are using Trimble GeoXT 3000 device with ArcPad w/GPScorrect ext and ArcGIS 10 w/GPS Analyst ext. What are the versions of ArcPad, GPScorrect & GPS Analyst? What is the GPS Firmware version on your GeoXT 3000 unit? Please review Trimble Mapping & GIS Product Compatibility List for the compatible software versions of the applications you are using, http://trl.trimble.com/docushare/dsw...ity_170412.pdf. Can you confirm you are running a compatible configuration among ArcGIS Desktop, ArcPad, GPS Analyst and GPScorrect extensions for the GPS Firmware installed on your Trimble GeoXT 3000 device? If everything is compatible according to Trimble matrix, I suggest submitting a support interaction with Esri Support so that you can work with an ArcPad analyst to troubleshoot this error further.

    Hello,

With regards to the error being received, I have run into this type of message before. Please ensure that you have your GPSCorrect.ssf file in the exact same folder location as that of the .AXF you are checking in from and that the .ssf file is spelled the same as above.

I hope this helps you out.

    Thank you.

I have the exact same error message when I try to import my GPSCorrect.ssf file into ArcMap using the GPSAnalyst extension. I can import my shapefile created using ArcPad on my Trimble unit just fine. However, when I try to import the *.ssf file to differentially correct, I receive an error massage:
An error occured while importing the file: 8116006a

The personal geodatabase I am trying to import to is GPS enabled, and so is my shapefile.
I used the same workflow as the original poster except that I did not "check out" data. Instead of checking data back in, I simply want to import my ArcPad shapefile and *.ssf file. Still getting the exact same errors as the original poster when trying to import GPSCorrect.ssf

    I am running:
    ArcGIS 10
    ArcPad 10
    GPSAnalyst 2.40

    Hello,

On the GPS analyst toolbar, what tool are you trying to utilize in ArcMap?

    Thank you.

I have tried this in both ArcMap and in Arc Catalog; both with the same results.

    My workflow:
    1. Used Windows Mobile Device Center to sync Trimble unit with PC, and get all files transferred to PC.
    2. Using the ArcToolbox window, expanded Trimble GPSAnalyst Tools
    3. Chose "Import from ArcPad shapefiles and GPSCorrect SSF
    4. Selected the shapefile to import, and chose the (GNSS-enabled) personal geodatabase as the destination worksapce.

The shapefile imports successfully; the SSF file does not.
I also get the same result if I try to use the Import from Trimble SSF file tool.

Check your GPS Preferences on your unit. What is your Protocol, Port and Baud settings?

I have a variation of this same problem...

Problem summary: After 19 successful check-in operations for the same data set over the past 6 weeks, I'm now getting an error that prevents check-in though I have not changed any hardware, software, or workflow.

While checking in yesterday's data I received the error message of the original poster (8116006a) despite not changing:
    - my workflow (yesterday's ssf file is copied into the same directory as yesterday's axf, and all copied onto the PC)
    - any software or firmware on the handheld (GeoExplorer 6000, ArcPad10 R4, GPSCorrect 3.40)
    - any software or firmware on my PC (Win7 64-bit, Arc10 SP4, GPSAnalyst 2.40)

    Simultaneously frustrating and bizarre.

    Can anyone help on this?

    Thanks,
    Will

    Hi,
I am having what appears to be exactly the same problem as the original post.

An error occurred while importing the file: 8116006a
Failed to check in from AXF file
    Failed to execute (CheckinAXFFileAndGPScorrectSSF).

Used Get data for ArcPad on Trimble GPS Analyst toolbar. Went and collected a couple of points and then clicked the Check in Arcpad AXF file and GPS correct SSF button on same tool bar.

Any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks - Evan

I had the same error message. In my case, however, we tried to upgrade to the latest version of GPS Analyst and GPScorrect. GPS Analyst (2.40) would not work with ArcMap 10. We could not enable the extension because it did not appear in the extension list. Therefore we downgraded to an earlier version of GPS Analyst. At that point, it worked with ArcMap. I checked out data, collected gps points, and when I tried to check the data back in, I got that error message. As it turns out, I neglected to downgrade the GPScorrect software on my mobile device. Once I did that, my check out/check in proceedures worked fine.
I have no explanation as to why the latest version of GPS Analyst did not work with ArcGIS 10 (sp 5).

So...in a nutshell, our software versions were incompatible.

Thumbs up Re: Trouble Checking gps correct Data back into ArcMap

Thanks for the reply. I found the similar situation. In my case I was operating with GPS Analyst v2.3 and needed to upgrade to 2.40. I have since done so and the problem is resolved.
