Default How can I create new templates for ArcMap

    Hi friends.

I'm working in a cadastral project and need to print maps with 3 diferetn design of the map. I want to know if I can pre design formats or templates to load then in the layout space with borders, titles, legends etc. predefined.

    Thanks for your help.

    Horacio.

For some really nice predefined templates, try to go to the Map Templates Resource Center:
    http://resources.esri.com/maptemplates/

Download templates from the Map Templates Gallery:
    http://resources.esri.com/maptemplat...fa=codeGallery

You can also create your maps online and access a wealth of goodies from this new site:
    http://www.arcgis.com/home/

    Cheers!
    Using ArcGIS 10 SP 1
    Windows XP, SP 3

Design your map document template then save as MXT not an MXD. You can then load the template into existing documents or open it to create new documents from it.

MXTs no longer supported at 10. See here:

    http://blogs.esri.com/Dev/blogs/arcg...ArcGIS-10.aspx

Our organization has always found .mxts to be a little buggy. We've used customized .mxds for our workflow, saved them as our default .mxds and called them "templates." We are glad we did this in light of the new info.
