    Default ArcGIS 10.0 & Visual Studio 2010

I'm about to begin converting VB code from ArcGIS 9.2 to 10.0. The computer I'll be working on had ArcGIS installed first (ArcEditor), then Visual Studio 2010. When I try to create a new project in Visual Studio, I don't see the options for creating ArcGIS add-ins (I've looked in both .NET Frameworks 3.5 & 4.0).

Does anyone know what needs to be done so I can create add-ins?

Right. ArcObjects SDK i.e., SDK for .NET is shipped on the same DVD you get ArcGIS Desktop or in the same download category on Esri Customer Care portal. So there is no additional licensing, only installation.

    Good luck!

IT loaded the SDK (I have no admin rights), but the ArcGIS templates still do not appear when I open Visual Studio. What folder are they installed in (Windows 7)?

    Bruce,

Could you please make sure the IDE Integration component has been installed? The picture is attached.
The template files are installed by default at: C:\Program Files (x86)\ArcGIS\DeveloperKit10.1\IDEIntegration\VisualStudio\Templates\ProjectItemFiles\Common

Are you using VS 2010 Express? ESRI does not support 2010 express and the SDK installer will not integrate templates into this version. The folder C:\Program Files (x86)\ArcGIS\DeveloperKit10.0 will exist if the SDK is installed at the default location. You will just need to start from a blank project or open a project in the Samples folder.

The templates for the VS New Project dialog are created in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\VBExpress\ProjectTemplates\ArcGIS for VS 2008 Express. These are different than the ProjectItemFiles in the dev kit folder.
